  • Tortuga Mexico Tours was started by Tito Carrillo who was one of the first traders to introduce Mata Ortiz pottery to the Southwest United States and providing American tourists an opportunity to visit the little unknown village of Juan Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico.
  • I, Pablo Carrillo will guarantee a unique one of kind experience and safe passage into Mexico. I have over 30 years experience of guiding people throughout all of Northern Mexico.

  • Our 4 day/3 night tours originate from Tucson, Arizona and include round trip transportation, bed and breakfast accommodations and a first hand guided tour of the whole village of Mata Ortiz and the surrounding Pre-Columbian ruins of Paquime and Cueva de la Olla.
The tour includes but is not limited to: meeting artists in their own home and buying direct from the artists themselves. Demonstrations may be available and all pottery purchases will be safely and securely packaged to get home safely.
